Why we did ‘Race Talks’
Staff feedback from the summer RAFA2 2018 CPD overwhelmingly said that they found the sessions helpful as “they provided space for conversations around the attainment gap”; that they were “constructive and acted as a catalyst for achieving desirable change” and that “we need more opportunities for this to happen”.
In response, the RAFA2 team hosted a ‘Let’s Talk About Race‘ event as part of our work on closing the BAME attainment gap. Alongside keynote speakers, the event provided an opportunity for staff to further discuss issues around race and the broader issues of equality, diversity and inclusion, and to strengthen their understanding and develop skills for enacting effective change within a safe reflective space.
The presentations can be found below and should be looked at alongside the students’ contributions on ‘Race Talk’.
