RAFA2 found that many of the solutions to tackle the attainment gap could be conducted with ease at an institutional level. This includes some of the actions occurring in the classrooms of individual academic staff that, with adjustment, could be altered to positively impact on the BAME attainment gap. These include, identifying local (bottom up) solutions that can be owned by staff and embedded into everyday practice.
To inform this work, student consultants carried out research into learning, teaching and assessment and produced guidance that lecturers could consider to inform their practice. Students and staff also worked in partnership by undertaking a number of projects located in the working with staff, learning, teaching and assessment section.
